Just to let you know the Castlemans Gundogs ‘are’ Dogs for Life Team will be at Crufts once again. We will be in our usual spot in the Dog Activities Ring - in Hall 3
and we will be demonstrating each day. Members of the team this year will be Myself - Labs, Goldens & Cockers, Sally Richardson - Goldens, Maiko Isono Lab & Golden, Sarah Winter - Golden, Christine Spalding - Flatcoat, Pepi Barrington - Irish Water Spaniel & Neil Varney - ESS and of course it is Maiko’s last year for Crufts as she will be leaving for Japan on 7th April - taking home with her Vespa, Puffin and Berry - so please make it a special occasion and come and support her in the demonstrations once last time. She will also be showing Castlemans Sonoran - Sunny in the Field Trial class & BASC on the Friday and on Gun Dog Day (Friday) we will be in the Main Arena at 5.55.
On another note - we have a couple of places left on both the residential holidays - so if your interested don’t be late in putting in your booking form for the holidays we would not want you to be disappointed.
We have also taken the decision to make the 11/12 May more of an Progressive Novice Standard - this is due to those that have booked already and wanting to push their dogs on and their handling skills so if you have wanted something more and would like to book on these dates then please let us know - we will be going to new ground which will involve some difficult terrain (walls! included)…..
For those at the beginning of their gundog work or have a young dog - we have been asked to do more 1 day events more regularly - so for those that would like to join those dates please get in touch. For those groups we will also include some waterwork when the time is right, but we also have the Water Training day on the 2nd June with a couple of places left.
If you have an advanced dog and would like a private or small group lesson but with a specific criteria that you would like to cover - i.e. water work, walls and or/with bumper boy and distractions again please get in touch.
Something new: Many of you may have young children or grand children (or know of friends with children) that you would like to do Gundog training (reward based of course) and to follow in your footsteps; so we will be running a Young Handlers Day 4th June at Nevill Holt in Leicestershire by kind invitation of Jimmy & Georgina Chattaway. If you would like to put their names down (must be accompanied by an adult for the day) then please let us know or pass the word on!
If you have had your dogs out beating and picking up this year - now is the time for checking your dogs over - and maybe having hands on with a ‘dog specialist’ to realign those hardworking bodies - so if you notice your dog is not quite right or this recovery time after the winter is taking longer, they are not picking up condition as quickly as would be expected - it may be something as simple as a a realignment, some hydrotherapy and massage to ease those tight muscles may be needed ….. we have people in Yorkshire that we can recommend but of course you may have someone your area too.
We hope you like the new website - we have posted some photographs in the Gallery from training and residentials in 2015…. and of course we look forward to taking lots more during 2016.
